The Council of Australasian University Directors of Information Technology (CAUDIT), in has joined forces with Alyne, combining experience and technology to perform a world-first cybersecurity maturity benchmarking exercise against the three most commonly accepted Australasian cybersecurity frameworks: ACSC Essential 8, NIST and ISO27001. The cybersecurity assessment, performed in 2020, was participated in by 66% of all higher educational institutions across Australia and New Zealand with 36 participants including 29 Australian and 4 New Zealand universities. This benchmarking exercise is a first for the sector.
Through this exciting new partnership, Alyne seeks to help CAUDIT members adopt appropriate risk profiles and counter ever-increasing cybersecurity threats and in doing so, help safeguard the intellectual property and high integrity of Australasian universities. Alyne’s SaaS solution will help CAUDIT achieve its vision towards leading the application of digital capabilities to transform education and research. Together, these two organisations will be able to enhance the three key strategies that provide focus for CAUDIT's activities: connecting, enabling and challenging its members.
This pilot, which took only 4 weeks to complete, consisted of a Risk Assessment and a Gap Analysis performed through Alyne’s software, which will allow participating institutions to:
- Gain transparency in the risks facing their organisation.
- Gain deeper risk insight into areas requiring attention and mitigation planning.
- Compare themselves against peers in the industry.
- Gain a full benchmark from their participation.
The Assessment was delivered at no cost to all participating institutions.
"The Preliminary results already delivered significant insights. The next phase where the institutions deep dive into their risk insights will deliver even more value. Having all of this rich information in the Alyne platform is the key to the ability to transition from insights to action.”
